Description:
The Office assistant will assist advisors in the College of Health Science and College of Natural Sciences with daily advising-related tasks.
Responsibilities:
- Greeting students and visitors to the science advising lobby and assist them with check-in or appointment scheduling
- Provide outreach to students in specific cohorts to provide important information and reminders from advising
- Maintain up-to-date signage for upcoming events and information on advisors' doors and boards
- Learn various processes related to advising to be able to share information with or direct students as needed
- Promote a welcoming environment for all who spend time in the Geoscience lobby.
Qualifications:
Dependable & Reliable- This is a must!
- Available Monday- Friday (will work around class schedule)
- This position is for Fall 2026 and Spring 2027 with options to stay on for the semesters following.
- Remain in good standing with the university in academics and conduct.
- Willingness to learn new skills and information quickly and effectively.
- Basic computer skills, including knowledge of Google Suites.
- Effective communication, in-person, over the phone, and in writing.
- Respectful, outgoing, understanding, & able to deescalate stressful situation.
- Ability to multi-task, manage time effectively, and be organized.
- Maintain punctual and timely attendance, this is required. This impacts the entire office and determines the teams success.
- All other duties as assigned.
This position Is a Work study position and will be up to 20 hours a week, located in the Geoscience 3rd floor lobby.
